Inside Abu Dhabi's Falcon Hospital: Free-Flight Tours & Falcon Encounters

THE ADVENTURE COLLECTIVE® · Independent discovery and booking for outdoor travel

Read the full experience

You step out of the air-conditioned van and the dry Gulf wind cuts a clean line across the compound; a falcon tilts in the sun and tests the air as if daring you to follow. The Abu Dhabi Falcon Hospital feels clinical at first—rows of kennels, sanitized walkways—but moments later a bird of prey surges through the free-flight aviary and the place becomes performance and clinic at once.

Adventure tips

Dress neutrally, avoid perfumesStrong scents and shiny jewelry can alarm birds—wear matte, low-fragrance clothing for close encounters.

Keep camera settings readyPhotography is allowed but birds move fast; use a fast shutter and be ready to follow guide instructions.

Hydrate and time visits morningMornings are cooler and birds are often more active—bring water for the transfer and plan for outdoor waiting areas.

Follow handlers’ directionsHandlers control all hands-on interactions—only accept a bird if instructed to protect both you and the falcon.

Recommended gear

Sun hat & sunscreen: Protects you during transfers and any outdoor portions of the tour.
Closed-toe shoes: Provides stable footing around exhibits and when interacting with birds on the ground.
Light layers: Indoors is air-conditioned; layers help for cool interiors and hot exteriors.
Camera with zoom: A short telephoto or zoom helps capture birds in flight without approaching them.
