Learn essential techniques like transitions and the Mohawk while building agility and speed. Enjoy a cozy atmosphere with a skate shop and coffee shop on-site, perfect for warming up after your sessions.
8 Weeks 30 Minute sessions
Skaters will be introduced to transitions from forward to backward, holding a forward and backward edge, and the Mohawk – a skating technique where the player shifts their weight onto one foot while the other foot controls the puck and pushes it in any direction.
As this class does not involve pucks, hockey padding is not necessary but can be worn to get used to skating in the required gear.
Note: It is a pre-requisite of this class to have passed Aussie Skate™ Test 5-6.
We have a fully stocked skate shop…so no need to panic if you forget your socks or gloves! Better still, we also have a cosy coffee shop so if you’re beginning to feel the cold, you can enjoy a hot drink and food, whilst you sit back, relax and view all the fast-paced action on the ice!
Our rinks maintain an air temperature of 10C so warm layers are a must! An insulated rain jacket will keep you warm and dry, and be sure to bring long socks. We strongly recommend that young skaters wear a well-fitted bike, ice hockey or ski helmet.
Wear moisture-wicking layers to stay comfortable on the ice and manage sweat.
Arrive at least 15 minutes before class to get suited up and warmed up.
Verify class times and availability ahead of your visit to avoid disappointment.
Personal skates are recommended for optimal fit, but rentals are available at the rink.
