A cold wind pushes through the pines as you step out of the minivan and stare up at a vertical wall of blue ice—an artificial field carved into the edge of a village ravine that catches light like stacked crystal. In Mojstrana, beneath the shadow of the Julian Alps, guides fit crampons and hand you ice axes, their voices clear against the clink of metal and distant rush of a winter stream.

No—guides teach basic rope handling and ice technique; the program accommodates beginners through advanced climbers.
All technical ice-climbing equipment, a licensed guide, photos, and transport from the Bled area back and forth are included.
Expect near-freezing conditions at the ice face; dress in several moisture-wicking layers, an insulated waterproof jacket, and bring warm gloves.
Children must be accompanied by an adult, and participants should have at least a moderate level of fitness; it’s not recommended for those with serious heart or back conditions or pregnancy.
