The day opens with salt on your lips and a lazy swell under the bow as the boat slips away from El Chaco dock toward the Ballestas Islands. Sea birds wheel above, and sea lions bellow from sun-warmed rocks; the Candelabrum geoglyph looms on a distant slope, a weathered line pointing inland. Later the bus climbs out of the coastal plain and into a pocket of red adobe at Tambo Colorado, where the sun brings the ancient Inca walls into sharp relief. The itinerary finishes in the dunes at Morón Lagoon, where aviary chatter and the cool blue of the water contrast with bleaching sand.
