Hurghada grew from small fishing villages into an international watersports gateway from the 1980s onward, driven by tourism development and its access to rich Red Sea reefs.
The Red Sea’s coral is fragile; choose operators that brief on reef etiquette, avoid anchoring on reefs, and encourage reef-safe sunscreens to reduce impact.
