A low trail of sunlight filters through the rainforest canopy as horses step from shaded thickets onto open pasture—this is the opening scene of a 90-minute ride on St. Croix. Riders move at a steady walk under attentive guides, passing fruit trees, fence-lined paddocks and occasional pasture edges that drop away to distant coastal light. The island’s warm trade winds press gently against the face as the guides point out seasonal fruits and the property’s mixed herd of horses and cattle.

Ride operators emphasize low-impact routes and advise against feeding wildlife; supporting local farms and practicing Leave No Trace helps protect soils and nearby reef systems.
