About This Adventure

Embark on an unforgettable 12-mile kayaking journey from Hoover Dam to Emerald Cove. This 8-hour adventure features hot springs, stunning slot canyons, and the breathtaking Emerald Cave. Enjoy a scenic lunch on Arizona Hot Springs Beach and explore historical sites, making this trip a perfect blend of nature and exploration.

This adventure includes a once in a lifetime 12-mile kayaking adventure downstream from the Hoover Dam to the Emerald Cove!

About

This is an 8-hour trip and is approximately 12 miles long. Stops and sights include:

  • Sauna Cave: we’ll stop here to discover hot springs deep inside the canyon
  • Gold Strike Hot Springs: just a 5-10 minute hike away, we’ll head to these hot springs for a quick dip and photo-op
  • Boyscout Canyon: we’ll get out of our kayaks to explore this area to see hot springs, narrow slot canyons, and some hiking
  • Arizona Hot Springs Beach: we’ll hike about 15 minutes up to the this open beach area to enjoy a lunch break
  • Gauging Station: we’ll paddle by this site which was used for monitoring water levels, flow, and sediment content of the river prior to the construction of the Dam
  • Emerald Cave: this gorgeous cave formed by natural faulting lights up emerald green. We’ll paddle through for a quick photo
  • Emerald Cove: we’ll stop on the beach here for a 30-minute break
  • Historical Trailhead: this is a quick 5-10 minute hike leading to the 1920’s homesite of the gauger and offers great views for a photo-op
  • Willow Beach National Fish Hatchery: we’ll paddle by this hatchery where rainbow trout are stocked weekly

What's Included

Lunch and Ice Water is included. Please let us know your dietary restrictions as soon as possible. Please bring 2-3L of extra water for each participant.

What to Bring

• Dry bag or ziplock bag for phone or electronics • Sunglasses, hat, long sleeve sun shirt • Sunblock  • Small towel • Shoes you don't mind getting wet or water shoes • Gloves (optional) • An extra 2-3L of Water for Each Person • Any additional snacks or food you desire

Important

We provide a single sit-inside kayak, tandems available upon request.

Guests will need to meet us 1.5 hours ahead of scheduled launch time at Willow Beach.

No shuttle service to the strip is available.

Permits need to be confirmed and purchased after booking. Permits are purchased thru NPS, cost $32 each and are non-refundable. With an American the Beautiful National Parks Pass, permits are reduced to $16 each.

Tips for the Guide are not included in the Price. It is typically a tipping position

Entry into Willow Beach is extra. Must have National Parks Pass or $25 per car. We get there before they open at 7:30 so you will not have to pay this. If you are late and past 7:30 you could have to pay.

Each Guest must bring a copy of their ID or Passport all the way to Hoover Dam Lodge to be checked by National Park Service.

Waiver Requirement: All participants must complete the General Liability Waiver before the activity. The waiver can be found below:

Risks and Assumption of Liability: Participants acknowledge the inherent risks associated with kayaking, including but not limited to drowning, weather changes, or equipment failure. By signing the waiver, participants accept these risks and release the operator from liability.

Adventure Tips

Wear layered, moisture-wicking clothing

Temperatures can vary throughout the day, so pack layers that keep you comfortable from start to finish.

Bring sun protection

Apply sunscreen, and wear a hat and sunglasses to shield yourself from the strong Arizona sun.

Stay hydrated

Carry plenty of water, especially since you'll be active in the heat for the entire day.

Check weather and river conditions before your trip to ensure safety and optimal paddling experience.
