The boat slips out of Phuket harbor and the sea opens like a waiting room of limestone towers — sheer grey cliffs pierced by dark mouths where the tide decides who gets in. By mid-morning the engine is a quiet companion; you transfer to a narrow canoe and the guides, trained and local, pilot you through cathedral-like cave mouths into the Hong lagoon where light pours in through gaps above.

Phang Nga Bay’s karst towers are Jurassic to Cenozoic limestone; the area has long supported fishing communities and sea-nomad cultures such as the Moken.
Tourism pressure can damage fragile caves and coral; operators limit group sizes and guests should avoid touching formations, dispose of waste responsibly, and minimize single-use plastics.
