The river opens like a cool stage as the Grande Mariner slips from Manhattan’s pier, steam of coffee blending with the briny air and the skyline watching quietly. Roving carolers move through the cabin, a cookie station draws small hands, and from the open deck the Statue of Liberty cuts a clean silhouette against winter light — the city’s edges sharpened by cold and celebration.
