Adventure tips

Bring small billsMany street vendors prefer exact change or small denominations—carry enough 10,000–50,000 VND notes.

Start at duskThe food scene and night market come alive around sunset—arrive when lanterns are lit for best atmosphere and cooler temperatures.

Watch the heat sourceAsk your guide which dishes are cooked to order versus pre-made to avoid hotter, fresher plates if you prefer them that way.

Pack hand sanitizerStreet dining is communal and handwashing can be basic—sanitize before eating to stay comfortable.

Recommended gear

Comfortable walking shoes: Streets include uneven pavement and wet spots—supportive shoes keep you steady between stops.
Small cash pouch: Many vendors are cash-first; a secure pouch speeds transactions and reduces fumbling.
Light rain jacket or poncho: Hoi An’s rainy season can bring sudden downpours—quick protection keeps you on the tour.
Reusable water bottle: Stay hydrated in humid weather; guides often point to refill stations or offer bottled water.
