The bus eases out of Auckland and the cityscape thins into a quilt of low green hills. Windows frame paddocks where sheep wander like extras, and the Kaimai Ranges rise in the distance, dark and patient. By midday you step onto the grassy lanes of the Hobbiton Movie Set, where round doors, tiny chimneys and garden paths invite a slower pace and plenty of photos.
