Morning air in Saigon moves like a current—humid, fast, and full of noise. Your guide collects you from a District 1 hotel and the city opens in layers: colonial facades catching light, scooters weaving like shoals, and a river that watches the city grow. You arrive first at a museum where wartime artifacts confront the present; later, incense coils rise at a 19th-century temple, and French-era spires mark time in brick and stone.

Saigon grew under French colonial design in the 19th century and later became the focal point of major events during the Vietnam War, visible in museums and public buildings.
Rapid urban growth stresses local waterways and waste systems; visitors can help by minimizing single-use plastics and following signage at cultural sites to protect historic interiors.
