About This Adventure

Dive into the art of cider making in this engaging workshop where you'll transform apples into your very own cider. Guided by an expert, you'll learn the history, enjoy local snacks, and taste various cider styles. Leave with two bottles to ferment at home and a handy guide to recreate the experience.

About

Ever wondered how cider goes from pip to pint? In this hands-on cider making workshop, you’ll prep, press, and produce your very own cider. Concoct your creation while our expert host takes you through the history of cider and the industry today, then relax with some snacks and a tutored cider tasting to help you decide which cider style is for you. You’ll leave with a new found thirst for Britain's oldest beverage, plus 2 bottles of your very own cider to ferment at home - with a “how to” guide, so you can flavour your ferment and be able to make it again and again!

More info

This 3 hour workshop is a chance to get hands on and become a cidermaker for the day. You’ll sample the apples, then you’ll weigh, wash and chop them, before heading to the presser to get all the juices out and the first stage of your cider underway.

Whilst you wait to press, dig into locally sourced nibbles, as our expert host guides you through the history of cider making and how the industry works today. Once we’ve filled our Demijohns, it’s time to ferment our apple juice. Then we’ll relax whilst we sample some ciders, from brut to sweet, understanding the spectrum of flavours within cider styles. We’ll also be tasting honeys, talking about sweetening and giving you all the tools you need to finish your cider recipe at home.

You’ll leave with a tote bag with your Demijohn, 2 bottles ready for filling at home, and a “how to” guide, showing you how to manage fermentation and when it will be ready to drink, so you can make it again and again.

Please note this is a small hands on workshop, at the Hiver Taproom and not in a working cidery, giving you the tools to make cider in a similar setting at home.
