Island access is only safe during the Open Hours shown on your ticket. Ocean tides make access outside of those hours unsafe.

We suggest that you begin your island visit with a stop at the Van Horne mansion. At the mansion, on every hour and half hour a tour guide will provide a brief history of the island on the front porch. You can watch a video about Sir William an Horne and Covenhoven and then you can ttake a self-guided tour this 50-room summer home of Sir William. You can also purchase food, beverage and gift shop items, and have access to washrooms. Parking at the mansion, as well as at other island parking lots, is included in your ticket price. Dogs on a leash are welcome everywhere on the island but inside the mansion. Our tour guides will be pleased to give you directions to other historic sites on the island. Once you have purchased your ticket, you will receive an e-mail with your booking confirmation and receipt which you will show at the Island Ticket Booth. If your receipt does not appear in your inbox within minutes, please check your spam/junk folder.
Visit during low tide to safely cross the causeway and access the estate.
