The Rebellion Barn is the most recent addition to our historic village. In 2017, the flea market that was currently housed in the venue was purchased by The Bright Foundation. This property was then gifted to Millard's Crossing. The addition of this venue has doubled our footprint at the village and we are thrilled to be accepting reservations for The Rebellion Barn!
The original structure was built around the 1950s. This is a relatively new building compared to the others found at Millard's Crossing. As we began renovations, hidden treasures were found within this barn. The original hardwood floors had been covered and are now a beautiful feature of the venue. Another clue to the history of the structure was a large chamber found underneath the barn. This may have been an elevator pit for grain, or simply a storage vessel.
This newly renovated venue is both heated and cooled and has a fully functioning kitchen. The Rebellion Barn can seat about 150 guests at one time with overflow seating on the large wrap around porch. Tables and Chairs must be rented for this space. Please see our Rental Price Sheet for more information. Linens are not included but may be rented at University Rental.
The Watkins Reception House was build in 1895 by Lera Thomas' maternal grandfather and reflects the practice of modifying a vernacular house with Victorian architectural features. The original floor plan was a standard rectangular farmhouse with a dog-trot, or breezeway through the center. This house also features a back porch well that is still displayed at the village. The home was made more stylish by adding a bay window parlor and front porch with "gingerbread" detailing.
Chairs and tables are for the use of the renters and can be rearranged; please attempt to put the furniture back where it was or at least neatly with chairs around tables. The piano and the buffet with the tall cabinet attached are not to be moved at all, and the two largest round tables are not to be moved to rooms across the hall. Please keep restroom doors closed when using heat and A/C. In cold weather you may use the fireplaces (bring your own wood). Before lighting fires, be sure that the dampers are open and the central heat is off so that the chimneys will draw properly; heat may be turned back on after the smoke is drawing well.
