A cold easterly from the Adriatic pushes you up through wind-scoured pines the moment you step out at Crkvicko polje. The trail angles up the shoulder of Sokolina, and the world tilts—stone terraces, karst hollows, and a coastline that peeks between ridgelines. By the time the cairns mark the final switchback, Sokolina’s summit at roughly 1,400 m opens into a wide, honest panorama.
moderate.
2–3 hours.
Moderate — regular walkers or people who do hill repeats will find the pace manageable.
The guided outing usually meets at Grab ethno village (≈460 m) and provides private transport to Crkvicko polje; the drive is about 15 minutes before the 4 km hike begins.
The climb is moderate: roughly 4 km one way with sustained uphill sections; expect steep pitches and rocky footing—moderate fitness is required.
No formal permit is required for this public route, but guided trips offer transport, local knowledge, and route-finding on exposed sections.
Summer is warm but windy on the ridge; spring and fall offer cooler conditions and clearer air—avoid days with strong winds or low cloud for summit visibility.
The high roads here were used historically by shepherds and, in places, Austro-Hungarian military patrols; local ethno villages preserve traditional stone architecture and pastoral practices.
Karst grasslands are fragile—stick to established trails to avoid erosion and avoid disturbing grazing livestock; pack out all waste.
Camp Grab operates guided outdoor trips and adventures with an emphasis on safety, stewardship, and memorable experiences.
