We have designed an incredible days hiking that'll allow you to have a truly once in a lifetime experience.
We have carefully designed our hiking tour to a maximum of six persons to ensure on a personable day in nature and make certain it's the appropriate level, for you to 100% experience the best day possible. From a leisurely hike to mountain peaks.
Distance: 14km, with 300m elevation gain.
You can take the express train from Barcelona Sants to Girona Train station which takes 38 mins or the regional train that takes 1 hr to Caldes de Malavella, from either Passeig de Gracia, El Clot-Arago. I will meet outside either station in van.
We'll hike in a area called Alta Garrotxa, which is most definitely my favourite mountain range, because of it’s remoteness and rugged landscape, where mountains peaks are blanketed with Forest. Covering an area of 32,865 hectares it has been declared an Area of Natural Interest, because how difficult it is to reach and it’s wealth of wildlife. The climate makes it perfect for hiking all year round, and although cold in the winter, it’s a great time to visit, where you’ll experience a dry climate, perfect for a days hiking.
The route starts next to the hostel in Sadernes and on the drive you’ll pass the medieval bridge of Valenti, crest beautifully over the gorge until you arrive in Sadernes, where we'll park and begin the hike.
We'll follow the Path of Valencians along the river where we'll pass turquoise pools and eventually the Waterfall of Sant Aniol d'Aguja. The waterfall is the highlight of the hike and it's incredible to jump in and cool off. . Other things to note The landscape in Alta Garroxta is spectacular with remote trails to completely immerse yourself in nature. Perfect location to hike in summer and winter.
