A cold wind pushes over the ridge and the first pale-blue pinches of the Abudelauri lakes appear between serrated limestone teeth. You arrive after a long, scenic drive out of Tbilisi, leave the car in the small village of Roshka, and begin a steady climb across alpine meadows where tufts of grass and scattered scree mark the route.

The trail is about 4 km one-way and typically takes 1.5–2 hours each way depending on pace and breaks.
The trail is visible and non-technical, but many visitors opt for a guided/private transfer from Tbilisi for logistics, local knowledge, and safer transport on mountain roads.
Late spring through early autumn (May–October) offers the most reliable access; snow can block the route in winter and early spring.
The water is cold and often glacially fed; swimming is possible for brief dips but not generally recommended due to low temperatures and fragile shorelines.
