The trail is moderate but the altitude (up to 4,680 m) makes it noticeably harder; newcomers should acclimatize, move slowly, and watch for symptoms of altitude sickness.
Typical inclusions are round-trip transport from Mexico City (for private tours), guide, entrance to Nevado de Toluca National Park, snacks and non-alcoholic drinks, and the temazcal experience.
No special climbing permit is required for the standard trail, but park entrance fees and regulated access can apply; the tour covers necessary admission.
Temazcal practices vary by operator; expect a mixed group and bring a towel and modest swimwear if required, plus an openness to traditional rites.
