About

What goes better together than peanut butter & jelly, salt & pepper, or a pepperoni & cheese pizza? Helicopters and snowshoes of course! It’s even better when dropped off just miles away from one of the most picturesque landscapes in Southcentral Alaska, the astonishing Knik glacier. We will spin you up to just above tree-line, and head towards an alpine wonderland on a thrilling helicopter ride. All the while, taking in sights of the glamorous Knik River Valley while listening to an in-depth narrative from your world-class pilot and guide.
After reaching our destination, you will unload and strap on snow shoes. Before heading into the wild, our guide will provide tips on how to properly “shoe” if you’ve never experienced the sport. You and the guide will then spend the next 1.5 hours romping through the snow-covered paradise, stopping to take pictures of anything that captures the imagination. After taking in all the realm has to offer, you will return to the Knik River Lodge again on an exhilarating ride, exploring the valley from new angles. Provisions include a yummy snack, courtesy of our local Anchorage partner “Kat’s Epic Trail Bites” (they’re naturally gluten free ).
Provided are the trekking poles, and snowshoes, of course! Winter gear available for use if needed.

Experience Requirements:
None required, but you should be able to walk at least 3 miles on flat pavement, or 2.5 miles of uneven rolling terrain over the course of 2 hours. Some parts of the trail are steep and hilly, placing additional stress on areas of the body not impacted by level terrain. Not recommended for those with cardiac or respiratory issues/illness. May be difficult for those with severe joint issues. If you have any dietary restrictions, please let us know and we will accommodate you with a different snack option.

Tour Highlights:

  • Helicopter flight over the majestic Chugach Range, Knik Glacier, Lake George and more
  • Includes a guided, 1.5-hour snowshoe hike
  • Fly down the Great Gorge of the Knik, awarded National Landmark status for it’s beauty
  • Small group size, very personal tour

Total tour time: 2 hours Flight time: Around 20 minutes, depending on location
