The first curve out of Dubai opens into the Hajar’s dry wind; the 4x4 hums and your window frames rising ridgelines of orange-brown rock. By the time you reach Hatta Dam the water sits cool and slow, daring you to take a kayak or pedal boat into its mirrored bowl while the mountains watch from every angle.
