Hands-On Tennessee Whiskey Workshop in Nashville: Master Three Old Fashioneds

The Tennessee Whiskey Workshop at Love & Exile, held in the private Tank Room at Love & Exile, sits at 715 Main St A, Nashville, TN 37206, and is a 90-minute hands-on class that pulls back the curtain on Tennessee whiskey and craft cocktails. This is not a lecture or a tasting flight; it’s an active session where you build three distinct Old Fashioned variations using professional bar tools—jigger, bar spoon, mixing glass—and the guidance of a local host who has lived and breathed Nashville’s bar culture for more than 25 years. The room’s scale encourages conversation, makes technique easy to see, and turns neighbors into classmates for an evening of practical skill-building. Key features of the experience include the Tank Room’s private setting, step-by-step cocktail construction, and an emphasis on Tennessee whiskey’s defining qualities. In-class demonstrations cover the Lincoln County Process of charcoal mellowing, how mash bills affect texture, and how barrel char and age translate to spice and vanilla notes. Guests taste differences in spirit samples and learn how bitters, sugar, citrus, and dilution transform an Old Fashioned’s tenor. You will muddle, measure, stir, and garnish under close instruction until each cocktail reaches the right balance. What makes this workshop a standout for visitors to Nashville is its context: it takes place away from Broadway’s neon and into a space oriented toward listening and craftsmanship. Love & Exile is both a local gathering place and a teaching venue; the Tank Room’s atmosphere is tailored for storytelling and hands-on practice. The host’s quarter-century of experience gives the class texture—barroom stories, courtroom-style fixes for common mistakes, and tips that only someone who’s tended bar here for decades would know. Practical considerations are straightforward: the meeting point is 715 Main St A, Nashville, TN 37206; minimum age is 21; and the session runs about 90 minutes. Expect a small-group feel even if you join strangers, and plan for responsible transport afterward. Bring photo ID and a curious palate; note that food is not included, so consider grabbing a meal before or after. This workshop is ideal for curious travelers who want to leave Nashville with reproducible skills rather than souvenirs. It’s equally useful for locals looking to refine their home bartending or for couples seeking a spirited date night with education built in. By the time you exit the Tank Room, you’ll have three well-made cocktails under your belt, new vocabulary to order with confidence, and a clearer sense of why Tennessee whiskey occupies its particular place in Southern drinking culture. Reserve a spot through the provided booking link, arrive prepared to learn, and expect an evening that sharpens your palate while celebrating Nashville’s distinct whiskey craft and makes memories.
