Hands-On Farm Field Trips for Youth Groups Near Merrill, Wisconsin

This bookable experience, Field Trips • Youth or Adult Groups, Troops or Church Groups, brings classroom learning outside at a working educational farm near Merrill, Wisconsin. Designed for homeschool families, scouts, church groups and school-age visitors, the three-hour program folds hands-on animal encounters, a pumpkin patch pick, and guided demonstrations into a compact outdoor visit. The scene is straightforward: temporary animal pens set up on grass fields, a pony that is calm with children, goats and sheep accustomed to being held, a clutch of rabbits and ducklings, and rotating small livestock such as chicks or piglets depending on season. Those elements create a low-key, tactile experience that’s especially well-suited to groups that want direct contact with animals without the logistics of a large farm tour.

Booking follows practical rules: weekday bookings require at least 75 attendees and run between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.; evening slots open for groups of 50 or more from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Cost is $12 per person with children two and under admitted free. A refundable $150 deposit secures the date if paid more than two weeks in advance. Note that cow-milking demonstrations are limited to weekend events and the provider asks participants to respect staff guidance during interactive sessions; staff levels restrict rotation-style programming for school groups.

What separates this provider is accessibility for large groups and an emphasis on gentle breeds. The focus on small, easily handled animals lowers risk while maximizing touch-and-learn moments—ideal for kids taking their first steps toward animal care or conservation. The pumpkin patch component is a seasonal highlight: each child can pick a larger carving pumpkin during included sessions between late April and Labor Day, with select bookings available into September and October for fall events.

On-site logistics favor simple, outdoor schooling: bring weather-appropriate clothing, closed-toe shoes, and hand-washing supplies. Hosts have created a predictable flow—animal displays in portable pens, a photo-friendly hay bale area, and a staff-led touch station. The listing does not include an exact host name or street address in the booking details; organizers should request arrival instructions and emergency contacts when reserving.

Teachers and group leaders can tailor visits around curriculum goals — ask about animal life cycles, farm safety, and food systems — and should plan for adult supervision ratios and allergy needs. Portable restrooms and shade are commonly provided at events; confirm on the booking page. Weather contingencies may move elements under tents to keep animals and visitors comfortable.

This farm visit is a practical, sensory-rich option for educators and group leaders in northern Wisconsin who want a safe, supervised setting for animal interaction, seasonal harvest activities, and short demonstration programs that amplify classroom science with real-world animal care.
