Bring your toddler to Sun Star Farm for five weeks of outdoor songs, animal visits and a Waldorf-inspired puppet story. Small groups and hands-on animal care make this an ideal intro to farm life for ages 1–4.
Sun Star Farm in Apex, North Carolina, operates a family-focused outdoor education and events program on a working farm. The farm offers four main experiences: two Parent / Child Class series that invite caregivers and children to pet farm animals, explore nature, and enjoy storytelling; private Birthday Parties hosted under a large shelter overlooking pasture views with animal feedings and a sandbox; and a Forest Tinkering Workshop for ages 9–12 led by Captain Don that includes building fires, outdoor cooking, crafting a pioneering tool, and archery. Sun Star Farm emphasizes small groups for hands-on learning, safe supervision for children, and outdoor play that fosters imagination and practical skills. Birthday parties are private events on the farm so no other groups overlap the reservation. Parent / Child Classes are designed for shared adult-child participation, combining animal interaction, guided nature exploration, and creative stories. The Forest Tinkering Workshop provides structured skill-building activities appropriate for older children, with instructors experienced in outdoor techniques and safety practices.
