São Roque’s wine route grew from European immigrant farms in the late 19th and 20th centuries; small family estates preserved traditional techniques while adapting to local soils and climate.
Many estates emphasize sustainable practices—water-conscious viticulture and limited-chemical regimes—and visitors are encouraged to support small producers and avoid leaving waste on properties.
