We start the tour at Kupa’a farms, where you will learn everything about how chocolate is grown, harvested, fermented, dried, crushed and processed to become the goodness we all love. You’ll participate in the process and make your own hot chocolate drink from scratch that you can bring with you to the summit and sip while watching the sunset.
Then we'll head to the summit of Haleakala where you will enjoy our delicious locally-sourced, organic pupu platter (substantial enough to replace dinner). Settle down on our camping chairs and wrap yourselves in blankets to witness the most amazing sunset you’ll see on Maui.
Get to the summit at least 30 minutes before sunset to secure a great vantage point and avoid crowds.
Temperatures can vary widely from daytime warmth to mountain chill; bring layers to stay comfortable.
Capture detailed photos of the crater or sunset with better clarity using a good zoom.
Don’t miss the chance to enjoy your handcrafted brew while watching the sunset.
Haleakala, meaning 'house of the sun' in Hawaiian, has been a sacred site for native Hawaiians for centuries, used for worship and observation.
The preserve supports sustainable farming and protects native species, contributing to Maui’s ongoing environmental efforts.
Adjust to varying temperatures from the farm to the summit.
