Adventure tips

Wear a windproof layerTemperatures drop near the summit; a lightweight windbreaker keeps you comfortable on exposed sections.

Bring ID and small cashDrivers will handle logistics, but you’ll need ID for transfers and cash for snacks, tips, or small entrance fees.

Secure electronicsUse a neck strap or zipped pocket for phones and cameras—hairpins and brief spray near the coast can jostle gear.

Time your start earlyDeparting in the morning avoids heavier traffic and gives better light for photos along the pass.

Recommended gear

DOT-approved helmet (if not provided): Protects against wind and stones; many operators provide helmets but bring your own for a better fit.
Light windproof jacket: Blocks cold winds at higher elevation and is useful in light rain.
Secure camera or phone strap: Prevents dropping devices during sharp turns and when taking photos from the bike.
Water bottle and sun protection: Stay hydrated and protect skin on coastal stretches with strong sun exposure.
