Experience the wonders of nature at Brooklyn Bridge Park's Environmental Education Center! Students in grades PreK-5 will engage in hands-on learning about local habitats and wildlife. Through observation, exploration, and creative diorama design, this unique program fosters curiosity and a deeper understanding of the environment in an interactive setting.
Brooklyn Bridge Park's Education Program serves over 10,000 students a year. We use the Park as a living laboratory for hands-on investigation, incorporating inquiry-based learning into lessons that meet Common Core, NYC and NYS learning standards.
HABITATS AND THEIR INHABITANTS (GRADES PreK-5)
Students will get up close with the animals in the Environmental Education Center as they learn about the habitats in the park and the species that live in them. Students will make in-depth observations, touch and explore specimens, and design their own habitat diorama.
Duration: 60 minutes.
Location: Environmental Education Center. Fully indoor class.
Plan to arrive at least 15 minutes before the program start to ensure a full session and avoid abbreviated lessons.
Though indoors, wear comfortable shoes for standing and moving around the exhibit spaces.
Adult supervision is necessary for all student groups to ensure safety and engagement during activities.
Programs can be canceled due to severe weather affecting park operations; verify ahead to avoid surprises.
