The Roberto Burle Marx Site in Barra de Guaratiba stretches across roughly 400,000 square meters of designed terrain: sweeping plant beds, reflecting pools, greenhouses and a compact complex of house and studio where the designer worked.

Roberto Burle Marx (1909–1994) was a leading Brazilian landscape designer and artist who integrated modern art principles with native plant conservation in mid-20th-century public and private projects.
The site plays a role in preserving Atlantic Forest species and ex-situ collections; visitors should stay on paths and avoid disturbing plants to support ongoing conservation work.
