Encounter diverse wildlife and beautiful scenery while paddling in a safe, welcoming environment.
This guided kayak tour starts with 15-20 minutes of instruction for new paddlers. Experienced paddlers can enjoy a bit of free exploration time while we get our new-comers up to speed, or choose to stay close by and help our newbies get the hang of handling their vessels.
After launching from the shore of Hammond Lake, your friendly and experienced guide will re-tell the story of the lake and the important people and eras that played a critical role in the history of the park, as well as the city of Clermont. In addition to the historical picture that is literally painted by the surrounding natural setting and the story told by your guide, paddlers have the chance to see an abundance of native wildlife, flora and fauna.
This paddle does not contend with a current so it is easy enough for first-time paddlers, and interesting enough for the most experienced kayakers in the group.
All equipment required for the tour will be included with your registration fee. Participants will be most comfortable in clothing that can get a little wet. All paddlers will use a single kayak. For those new to paddling, just trust us, a single kayak is easier and safer than a two-person kayak. Participants are welcome to bring their own kayak (tandems included) and join the tour at a reduced rate. Participants must be at least 8 years old to participate.
Wanderlust Club Members receive 20% off this tour.
Participants must meet at the Camper Canteen at least 15 minutes prior to the start of the tour. The registration fee does not include state park admission of $5 per vehicle, which must be paid upon entry.
Take advantage of the initial 15-20 minute lesson to build confidence before hitting the water.
Florida sun can be intense; bring water and sunscreen even during short tours.
Maintain distance from animals like herons and turtles to avoid disturbing them.
