You step off the air-conditioned coach into a sunlit plaza where color is not an accident but a neighborhood policy: the painted zócalos of Guatapé call out names and histories in low, bright relief. The reservoir sprawls beyond the malecon, islands like punctuation marks, and the Piedra del Peñol rises inland — a granite spine daring you to climb.

Yes; the tour includes breakfast and lunch, and there are public restrooms and food stalls in Guatapé town and near major viewpoints.
Transportation may be wheelchair accessible, but the boat access and the El Peñol stair climb are not suitable for wheelchairs.
When the Peñol-Guatapé reservoir was created in the 1960s–1970s, several villages were flooded and communities relocated; the replica of the old Peñol preserves that memory.
Boat traffic and beachfront development affect water quality—respect local guidance on waste and avoid feeding wildlife to minimize impact.
