South Gran Canaria developed around small fishing hamlets; Puerto de Mogán’s grid and canals date to mid-20th-century development that balanced fishing and nascent tourism.
Avoid anchoring on seagrass beds and use reef-safe sunscreens; operators often brief guests on minimizing contact with marine life to protect fragile habitats.
