Golfito Forest Golf Among Mediterranean Pines Near Lloret de Mar

Golfito delivers an offbeat round of golf tucked into a stand of Mediterranean pines just outside Lloret de Mar, Catalonia, Spain. This compact course trades manicured parkland for shade, uneven terrain, and playful 'traps' that test rolling lines and short-game creativity, all within an approachable layout designed for families and beginners aged four and up. The hole sequence winds through a forest of Pinus halepensis and Pinus pinea, where trunks, roots, and low garrigue shrubs become natural hazards and wayfinding features.

The experience reads part mini-golf, part short course: tees are close, shots reward placement over power, and the emphasis is on entertainment and learning rather than tournament par. Natural rock outcrops and compacted sandy soils lend a rustic bounce to chips, while pockets of rosemary and thyme add a coastal Mediterranean scent after each swing. Expect bird song from warblers and the occasional blackcap, and keep an eye out for lizards sunning themselves on warm stones during late spring and summer.

For visitors staying in Lloret de Mar, Golfito is an easy half-day activity that pairs well with beach time, coastal hikes, or an afternoon exploring historic stone streets. Its family-oriented design makes it a low-stress option for multi-age groups; children from four years can participate, which keeps it popular with travelers seeking active, outdoorsy diversions that aren’t physically demanding.

Practical details: the layout favors short clubs and wedge play—bring patience and a willingness to adapt to uneven lies and tree-lined approaches. There’s no need for tournament gear; comfortable shoes, water, sunscreen, and a small towel will cover most needs. Play during shoulder seasons for cooler temperatures and fewer crowds; summer afternoons can be hot and sunny despite the forest canopy.

What makes Golfito stand out in the region is its fusion of sport and place. Rather than erasing the forest to create perfectly groomed fairways, the course embraces existing pines, shrubs, and stone, offering a distinctly Catalan interpretation of golf that highlights local ecology and invites informal play. It’s an accessible way to experience Mediterranean forest textures, informal wildlife encounters, and playful course design without leaving the Lloret de Mar travel circuit.

Whether you’re teaching a child to swing, stretching out halfway through a coastline itinerary, or just after a short, unusual round in the shade of pine, Golfito offers a memorable, low-pressure golfscape that reflects the landscape and leisure ethos of this corner of Catalonia. The course welcomes beginners and can be enjoyed by players using rental clubs or their own sets; check locally for rental availability and operating hours. Expect staff to provide basic guidance, and consider pairing a morning round with a visit to nearby botanical gardens or coastal viewpoints for a full day outdoors.
