Our educational programs are designed for schools and other youth organizations. Our goal is to enhance the appreciation of nature, build life skills, and provide learning opportunities that include the human history, geology and ecology of the Sierra Nevada Rivers we love.
Each program is a "module" which can be combined with other modules to complete a full day, or to occupy a half day period on successive days.
Paths can be uneven and sometimes muddy, so comfortable, supportive footwear is essential.
The open river areas offer little shade, so protect yourself from the strong California sun.
Staying hydrated is important during this day-long experience, especially in warmer months.
Bring notebooks or cameras to capture notes and photos during educational sessions.
Lotus sits along important Gold Rush routes, featuring historic mining sites and areas used by the Miwok tribes before 1849.
Efforts focus on protecting river ecosystems by minimizing footpath erosion and promoting Leave No Trace principles.
