About

Raft the turquoise blue glacier waters of the Upper Kenai River passing through the Kenai Wildlife Refuge and bushwack approximately 1/2 mile into the wilderness to a remote streambed rich with GOLD!

Your knowledgeable guide will teach you time-tested methods for identifying high potential gravel ore. Then the fun and work begin as you dig and wrest ore from the earth filling buckets as time permits. Next, separate the gravel, larger rocks and pebbles from the "gold concentrates," (sand, silt and gold), using a sluice and the stream's current. The gold concentrates, consisting of heavier, smaller materials, collect in the sluice's mining carpet. Next, "clean out" your sluice, transferring the concentrates to a gold pan. Pan your concentrates to reveal the fruit of your efforts, gold, and shout "Eureka!" KEEP THE GOLD YOU FIND!

After prospecting for a few hours, you will follow your trail back to the beach pick-up spot, reboard rafts and continue a scenic float, soaking in the beauty of the mountains. Be on the lookout for Bald Eagles, bear, moose, Merganser, porcupine and other critters.

FUN for all ages, young to old. Families, couples, friends, coworkers and singles bond as the hunt for gold grabs hold! Learn much from our seasoned guides, make great memories and new friends. Legitimately boast "I discovered gold in the Alaska wilderness!"
