West Wind Lobster Boat Tours is a small, Harpswell-based operator offering guided lobster harvesting trips in Casco Bay. The company leads the Let’s Go Lobstering! tour, a hands-on experience where passengers join Captain Jay McGowen to learn the history and techniques of Maine lobstering. On the trip, Captain Jay demonstrates trap lifting, explains gear and regulations, and highlights local marine life such as seals that often bask on nearby ledges.
Tours depart from Harpswell, Maine, and focus on close, educational encounters rather than commercial fishing. Guests can expect photo opportunities with seals and view working lobster gear up close. The experience emphasizes respect for ocean habitats and provides context about the region’s seafood culture and coastal traditions.
West Wind Lobster Boat Tours presents an accessible way to see Casco Bay from the water while learning a core Maine industry. The itinerary centers on demonstration and narration rather than harvesting for participants’ take-home catch; it is designed for families and visitors interested in learning about lobstering, local wildlife, and maritime history. Safety briefings and boat handling are part of the trip routine.
All information about the tour, schedule, and booking is available through the operator’s public listings and The Adventure Collective feature. West Wind Lobster Boat Tours is rooted in Harpswell’s coastal community and connects visitors directly with the everyday life of Maine lobstermen.
Bookings are offered seasonally through public listings; availability depends on scheduled departures. Travelers should consult tour pages on The Adventure Collective for current dates and booking details.
