Located in the historic town of Kelso in the Scottish Borders, Kelso Ice Rink offers a vibrant and inclusive ice skating experience for visitors of all ages and skill levels. Situated on Golf Course Road, this local gem transforms winter days into memorable outdoor adventures under roof — a perfect escape to enjoy the crisp air and lively atmosphere regardless of the weather outside. Kelso itself is a charming market town known for its Georgian architecture and proximity to rolling hills, making the rink a wonderful complement for an active visit to the region. The rink welcomes skaters with a smooth ice surface spanning the hall, inviting beginners to waltz tentatively and seasoned skaters to carve graceful arcs. The atmosphere is friendly and encouraging, creating a fun environment where families and friends can come together, whether it’s your first glide or your hundredth lap. The rink’s accessible design includes wheelchair access via the front of the building, allowing those with mobility needs to enjoy the experience with prior notice to staff. What sets Kelso Ice Rink apart is its community-centered vibe enhanced by the convenience of the Rink Bistro. Here, visitors can warm up with hot drinks and snacks, a welcome benefit especially during chilly months. The rink provides everything you need for a carefree outing except skates themselves, which can be hired on site. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult, although guardians need not skate themselves—making it an ideal family activity. Kelso Ice Rink not only boosts local recreation but also forms a key part of the town’s winter social life, hosting public skating sessions that bring warmth and energy to Scotland’s cooler seasons. The rink is indoors, so conditions remain reliable even when the Borders experience rain or snow, ensuring an uninterrupted skating adventure. Visitors are encouraged to wear suitable warm clothing and leave food or drink outside the ice hall to maintain safety and cleanliness. Photography is common during sessions, capturing joyous moments on the ice for social media and promotions. This rink embodies a blend of sport and community spirit, making it a standout destination for travelers seeking accessible winter fun in Scotland.
