About

Get hands-on to design and make a one-of-a-kind paperweight. Peek behind the curtain into the mystery of glassblowing. Using a range of sculpting and shaping techniques you will create a design out of coloured and clear glass. Create something unique while learning fundamental glass-making skills. With six designs to choose from and seventeen colour options, the combinations are endless!

The techniques required to make a paperweight have been around for thousands of years. In this introductory workshop, you can choose from one of our six designs and include up to three colours to make a piece that’s unique to you.

Paperweights are the first creation every glass artist makes. Making paperweights gives you a hands-on understanding of the way that hot glass can be shaped and manipulated using tools.

The 30-minute workshop starts with an explanation of the tools and equipment we use in the hot shop, followed by a design consultation where you choose which style of paperweight you'd like to make, then you spend about 20 minutes working one-on-one with our glass artist instructor to make your paperweight.

Hot shop experiences (paperweight, tumbler and pumpkin workshops) are taught one-on-one. This means one person per time slot.

Note: Hot glass needs 16 hours to cool down safely. Your piece will be available to collect from the following day or can be posted to you.
