Discover Glacier Gardens Rainforest Adventure in Juneau, a one-of-a-kind journey through a reimagined landslide site transformed into lush botanical gardens, offering unforgettable views and outdoor exploration.
Glacier Gardens Rainforest Adventure offers a truly unique outdoor experience in Juneau, Alaska. This private garden tour showcases a remarkable transformation of a landslide-devastated woodland into a breathtaking botanical wonderland. Located just minutes from downtown Juneau, the gardens sit on a sloping hillside that provides spectacular panoramic views over the city and the surrounding natural landscape. Visitors travel up the mountain by golf cart or on foot, making the journey part of the adventure with scenic vistas and a sense of discovery.
What sets Glacier Gardens apart is the vision and dedication of its passionate owner, a 67-year-old landscaper who has spent years painstakingly restoring and redesigning the space. The garden blends vibrant floral displays with the rugged Alaskan wilderness, featuring exotic greenhouse plants and native species that thrive in the rainforest climate. Unique geological elements like rocky outcrops and upside-down trees, remnants of the landslide, add interest and tell a compelling story of nature’s resilience.
The on-site greenhouse welcomes visitors with dazzling flower arrangements, creating an inviting start to the visit. From there, the route ascends the mountain, weaving through winding walkways bordered by thriving flora. The combination of natural beauty, creative landscaping, and stunning mountain views makes this experience singular in Juneau’s outdoor offerings. Guides provide informative commentary about the history of the gardens, plant species, and the extraordinary road built by the owner—a rugged path reminiscent of ancient Roman engineering.
While the trip is best suited for adults and older teens due to the rugged terrain and shuttle conditions, the tour’s thoughtfully crafted details and captivating scenery make it a must-visit.
