About This Adventure

Join Girls on the Run to empower girls in grades 3-8 through fun physical activities and essential life skills. This unique program fosters confidence, emotional well-being, and friendships, culminating in a celebratory 5K. Experience personal growth and community connection every Sunday, while discovering your inner superstar!

Classes will relocate from the Visitor Center when there are large events happening close by and prevent GOF! participants from finding parking and having a productive class.

Both Mental Fitness and KidoKinetics classes will be taking place by the playground and Yurt area

Girls on the Run on Sundays from 2:00PM-4:00PM Girls on the Run empowers girls to build confidence, increase their level of physical activity, and learn essential life skills such as managing emotions, resolving conflicts, and forming friendships. Girls discover their inner Superstar in each lesson through innovative integration of fun physical activities, life-skill building, and impactful community projects. Get two hours of fun and development with this program that promotes mental, physical, and emotional well-being and ends with a celebratory 5K extravaganza. Join our amazing coaches for Girls on the Run at Shelby Farms today!

Grades: 3rd-8th grade

Program Fee: $175

Financial aid and payment plans are available to all families—no questions asked. Participants must register through Girls on the Run’s online portal: gotrmemphis.org/programs.

5k Celebration: Sunday, November 9th

Line Dancing on Mondays @ 5:30PM instructed by YMCA A fun and accessible way to learn a variety of dance routines while enjoying the outdoors. This class is beginner-friendly, focusing on basic steps and choreography for popular songs, and can improve coordination, balance, memory, and overall energy! The workout is low-impact and suitable for people of all ages and fitness levels.

Yoga Flow on Tuesdays @ 5:30PM instructed by YMCA A fun, dynamic and creative vinyasa flow class suitable for yogis of all ages. Expect to sweat in this class blending breathing and flowing yoga movements set to great music, with a beautiful guided relaxation/meditation at the end. This class will help you let go of stress - a complete mind-body experience!

Functional Fitness for Older Adults on Wednesdays @ 9:00AM instructed by Kroc Center of Memphis This fitness program includes a well-rounded combination of light cardio, weight training, balance exercises, and stretching to support overall health and mobility. All activities can be adapted to be performed either seated or standing, making the program accessible for a wide range of fitness levels and physical abilities.

Kid's Yoga on Wednesdays @ 5:00PM instructed by YMCA Kids yoga is designed to be fun and engaging, teaching basic yoga poses with playful names that build strength, flexibility, balance, and mindfulness. Children explore breathing exercises to promote focus and relaxation. We keep everyone engaged with creative themes, games, music and storytelling. Parents are encouraged to join in too!

KidoKinetics on Thursdays @ 5:00PM This class takes place at the Playground near to the restrooms An action-packed, fun-filled class designed to introduce young children to the fundamentals of sports and movement! Through age-appropriate games and activities, kids build confidence, coordination, and a love for active play while exploring a variety of sports in an encouraging, non-competitive environment.

Mat Pilates on Fridays @ 4:30PM instructed by Ballet Memphis Experience a low-impact but challenging workout that enhances your mind-body connection. Pilates will lengthen and strengthen your core muscles, build body awareness and balance, and create space for mental clarity. Classes are safe and effective for any age, and inclusive to everybody. Please bring a yoga mat and water!

Mat Pilates on Saturdays @ 8:00AM instructed by Club Pilates Club Pilates mat class offers a full-body, low-impact workout that emphasizes dynamic core work to enhance strength, balance, and flexibility. The session is designed inclusively for everyBODY, ensuring that exercises can be modified to suit all fitness levels.

Adult Yoga on Saturdays @ 9:00AM instructed by Katy & Bridget This Vinyasa style yoga class is dedicated to creating a balanced mind, body and spirit. It is perfect for all levels, from people new to yoga, for students who want to reconnect with their fundamentals, or everything in between. Modifications will be given to create a safe and fun yoga practice for all. These classes will challenge you to focus on your mind, body and breath. Be sure to bring your mat, water and towel.

5k Training Running Group on Saturdays @ 10:00AM instructed by YMCA This group running class is designed to help beginners transition from walking to running a 5K (3.1 miles). Your instructor understands the challenges beginners face and will guide you through a structured training plan that gradually builds your endurance, stamina, and confidence. Connect with others on the same journey as you and find support and community to help you reach the finish line!

Mental Fitness on Saturdays @ 10:30AM instructed by Arts of Living Foundation This class offers a well-deserved break where you will clear your mind through calming breathing and guided meditation. You will learn to relax your mind and prepare it to enter a meditative state by balancing the right and left hemispheres of the brain. You will be trained to overcome negative patterns using your breath and meditation. Please bring a yoga mat or folding chair and water.
