The trail opens under a wide expanse of dark sky and the rainforest answers in a chorus: clicking insects, distant frog trills and leaves whispering under slow-moving mammals. A small group follows a local guide along the narrow coastal trails of Gandoca-Manzanillo Wildlife Refuge, headlamps low so eyes adjust and bioluminescent moths and glass frogs begin to appear.

The experience runs about 2 hours and tours are small—typically up to eight travelers—so the guide can focus on quiet, close-up encounters.
Children with reasonable stamina can join, but the operator asks for age information; the trails are uneven and not suitable for wheelchairs or severe mobility limitations.
