About

Join Beer Hiking Bavaria author Rich Carbonara for a trip to one of the great beer hiking experiences by walking the Fünf Seidla Steig®, the granddaddy of the beer hiking trails. Within an hour, we’ll be sipping our first hand crafted beer and getting ready for a full day of hiking.

This route will cover about 9km or 5.5 miles, passing through dense green forests to four small villages, one with a hilltop castle and finish up at a former brewing monastery. Oh, and five small country breweries!

Note there is 340m/1100 ft ascent & 295m/970 ft descent spread out over the entire hike.

*Please note that small breweries take vacations even during the summer and sometimes even close for a day on a whim. While not likely, it is possible that a planned stop might be closed.

Included

Included public transport to trail head and guided hiking. First beer is on me.

Not included

Food and additional beverages.

What to Expect

-In Nuremberg, the meeting point is inside the Main Train station (HBF) under the departure/arrival board. Please be there promptly as we’ll need to catch a train to our starting point. Plan on arriving at 8:45 and everything will be a lot more relaxed.

-Tours go rain or shine and since these are hiking tours, we’ll be outside most of the day. Please bring a small pack to carry the essentials: rain jacket, extra layer, filled water bottle and a temperature appropriate hat. In cooler months, bring something warm just in case the temperature drops. Please wear comfortable weather appropriate walking shoes.

-Please bring enough cash for beer and food as small breweries do not accept credit or bank cards and are not included in the tour price.

Fünf-Seidla-Steig® is a registered trademark of the breweries Elchbräu, Brauerei Hofmann, Lindenbräu, Brauerei Friedmann and Klosterbrauerei Weißenohe.
