Experience the dramatic contrasts of Northern California’s wild coast on this full-day, naturalist-led hiking adventure. This unique tour begins beneath the towering redwoods and ends at the windswept shoreline of Hidden Beach, offering a rare chance to explore both ancient forest and rugged coastline in a single day.
The journey starts beneath the majestic canopy of old-growth redwoods, where trees stretch hundreds of feet into the sky. As you walk through the hushed, cathedral-like groves, your naturalist guide will share fascinating insights about the ecology, history, and biodiversity of these ancient forests. Learn how coastal fog nourishes these giants, how they support entire ecosystems in their canopy, and how Indigenous cultures have long connected with this land.
Leaving the forest behind, you will head to the Pacific coast, where the landscape opens to sweeping views, salt air, and the sound of crashing waves. Our destination: Hidden Beach—a secluded stretch of coastline rarely visited by crowds. Here, you'll explore dramatic sea stacks, driftwood-strewn shores, and, if tides allow, vibrant tidepools teeming with sea stars, anemones, and hermit crabs. This coastal segment offers a chance to connect with California’s marine environment and learn about the intertidal ecosystem from your guide.
We’ll stop mid-day for a picnic lunch, featuring a hearty sandwich (with vegetarian and gluten-free options), fresh fruit, and trail snacks. Sparkling water and iced coffee will also be provided.
