About

Venture into one of the most iconic and breathtaking landscapes in North America on this full-day hiking tour through the heart of Redwood National and State Parks. Guided by expert naturalists, this two-part journey offers a rich, immersive experience—first beneath the towering coastal redwoods, then into the lush, otherworldly beauty of Fern Canyon.

Part 1: The Redwood Cathedral

Begin your adventure beneath the towering old-growth redwoods, some standing over 300 feet tall and more than a thousand years old. Your naturalist guide will lead you along a quiet trail through the ancient forest, sharing stories about the ecology, evolution, and cultural significance of these majestic trees. You’ll learn how this unique coastal environment supports an extraordinary range of plant and animal life—and why preservation of this ecosystem is vital.

Part 2: Into Fern Canyon

After a complementary lunch consisting of a fresh, hand-made sandwich (with vegetarian/vegan and gluten free options available) and a variety of snacks, you will continue on to Fern Canyon—a narrow, winding gorge with 50-foot walls blanketed in living green. This section of the hike includes shallow stream crossings and a short climb, rewarding you with one of the most photogenic and peaceful landscapes in the park. Your guide will interpret the canyon’s unique geology and point out prehistoric plant species that have survived since the age of the dinosaurs.
