Peak migration into the Mara commonly occurs June–October, though river crossings are unpredictable and vary year to year.
The Maasai Mara lies within Narok County and is named for the Maasai people; the reserve’s boundaries and tourism developed in the mid-20th century to protect migration routes and grazing lands.
Park management and community conservancies work to protect migration corridors and big-cat habitat; visitors reduce impact by staying on tracks, avoiding single-use plastics and supporting local guides.
Valent Tours & Travel operates guided outdoor trips and adventures with an emphasis on safety, stewardship, and memorable experiences.
