Morning light breaks over the low ridges of Ittin Mountain as your 4x4 grinds away from Salalah toward Jarziz Valley. The trail drops into a green cleft—shade from broad-leaved trees, the faint chime of goats, and the dry scent of earth warmed by the sun. You hike a roughly 4 km route (about three hours of walking) that threads stream channels and rocky ledges before a rest beneath a cluster of trees where a guide pours tea.

The walk covers approximately 4 km and takes about three hours, embedded within a full-day (around 6–9 hour) tour including transfers and lunch.
The route is generally suitable for all fitness levels, but those with serious mobility issues or back/heart conditions should avoid it; the transfer vehicle is a 4x4 and staff can assist with short steep sections.
Facilities are limited—expect rest stops under trees and a picnic-style lunch; bring essentials like water, snacks, and any medications.
Khareef (June–September) offers lush greenery and flowing springs, while cooler months (November–March) provide dry, comfortable hiking weather—avoid extreme heat in late spring.
Jarziz sits along historical pastoral routes on Dhofar’s slopes; the area has long supported seasonal grazing and small village clusters tied to frankincense-era trade routes.
The valley’s springs and seasonal streams are fragile—stick to established paths to reduce erosion and avoid disturbing grazing areas; during Khareef, increased visitors make leave-no-trace practices especially important.
