About This Adventure

Great course and fun day for anyone wanted to learn techniques and safety used in traditional climbing & climbing anchors.

This course will cover:

  • Introductions/ Leave No Trace
  • Gear Brakedown: Rope, Harness, Helmet, BRDs, Carabiners
  • Review of Belaying (P-BUS Method), spotting and belaying safety
  • Backclipping/ Z clipping/quick versus alpine draws/ rope drag
  • Climbing
  • Climber communication/lowering
  • Anchors/self lowering

EWG will provide:

  • Harnesses
  • Helmets
  • All related equipment

What to wear/What to bring:

  • Hiking shoes/sneakers are recommended
  • Clients must wear sneakers, tennis shoes or any closed toed shoe. (No sandals, flip-flops or crocs. Open shoes are more susceptible to injury on rock terrain.)
  • Please bring at 32 ounces of water per person and snacks for the day. We burn a lot of calories at altitude.
  • A backpack for your own water, snacks, sunscreen, camera and space for extra layers since the daily temperatures will greatly vary. It is better to have clothes to put on than none at all if the temperature drops.

What are the requirements for climbing and rappelling courses?

  • Clients need a waist size between 22-45 inches to fit in harnesses and weigh at least 45 lbs.
  • Children need to be 8 years or older and accompanied by an adult.
