Full-Day Coronado Islands Fishing Charter: 12-Hour Small-Group Offshore Adventure

On a clear dawn off San Diego, the Full Day • Coronado Islands charter launches from 1677 Quivira Rd, San Diego, CA 92109, carrying up to four anglers into blue water and wind-slicked horizons. This 12-hour trip—departing at 6:30 AM and returning at 3:30 PM—pairs a US Coast Guard licensed captain with personalized attention, modern tackle, and fish filleting so your catch is ready to take home. Guests choose the mood of the day: run offshore to deep-structure productive for pelagics or skirt the Coronado Islands’ rocky points and kelp beds to challenge bottom fish and rockfish. The Coronado Islands sit just over the Mexican border and rise from deep water as steep, sea-sculpted rock with dense kelp forests and frequent pinniped activity. That combination creates a concentrated food web—baitfish, sea lions, and feeding seabirds—that pulls big predators into the area. For anglers interested in trollers, jigging, or bottom-bouncing, the mix of deep canyons and island structure can produce yellowtail, dorado, calico bass, and other prized species depending on season and swell. What sets this trip apart is the intimacy and service. With only four seats, the captain can read the sea, tailor techniques, and coach anglers through every strike and hookup. The charter supplies fishing gear, bait and tackle, fuel, cooler and beverages, and will fillet your fish on return—so even if you’re new to saltwater tactics, you’ll walk away with fillets and a story. Practicalities are clear: anglers 16 and older need a California sport fishing license, and anyone joining a Coronado visit must have a passport plus a Mexican fishing license for that day; the operator provides guidance and options to obtain both online ahead of time. This is a serious day on the water—plan for choppy passages, changing temperatures, and long stretches standing or fighting fish. Bring layered clothing, non-slip shoes, sun protection, snacks, and a camera in a waterproof case. The captain monitors weather and will reschedule trips for safety, so flexibility pays. For travelers staying in San Diego, this charter is a compact way to access world-class offshore structure without the crowds of larger boats. Whether you’re chasing your first yellowtail or refining jigging technique in open water, the Full Day • Coronado Islands trip delivers focused instruction, authentic marine habitat, and the kind of hands-on fishing that turns a vacation into a bona fide catch-and-keep adventure. Departing from the meeting point at 1677 Quivira Rd, anglers meet an experienced crew focused on safety and local regulations. Small-group dynamics mean more lines in the water per person and tailored instruction for new or veteran anglers alike. Expect a full day of navigation, technique adjustments, and on-deck camaraderie that makes each strike worth the effort.
