Morning light cuts across white sand as the van eases away from Cancun, the Caribbean sea daring you to keep up. By midmorning you stand at Tulum’s clifftop ruins, wind pulling at the stones where trading canoes once met the shore. Later the jungle swallows the path to Coba: palms lean in like curious onlookers, and the trail opens onto Nohoch Mul, a steep limestone pyramid that rewards the climb with a wide, leafy panorama. Between ruins you descend into Cenote Zemway — water cool and still, the collapsed limestone framed by dangling roots and shafts of light.
