You step out of Göreme into a landscape that seems to have been hewn by wind and imagination: ridges of soft volcanic tuff rise and fall like weathered waves, punctuated by chimney-like spires and carved cave houses. The trail moves from the pigeon-dotted gullies toward Uçhisar, then threads through the oversized mushrooms of Love Valley before opening into the ochre folds of Red and Rose Valleys.
